Oh, what peace we often forfeit, oh, what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
How true this is when we try to deal with things on our own without praying about it.
In full-length, the song goes like this,
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer. Oh, what peace we often forfeit, oh, what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful, who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge; take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy (your) friends despise, forsake thee (you)? Take it to the Lord in prayer. In His arms He’ll take and shield thee (you); thou wilt (will) find a solace there.
Words by Joseph M. Scriven
In the last two posts I shared, firstly, the importance of being in a committed and consistent relationship with God. Secondly, that Jesus is completely able to relate with us and our weaknesses. Lastly, that because of our faith in Jesus and because of who He is we are able to go to God boldly and confidently in our time of need (Hebrews 4:14-16).
Everytime we are in need of absolutely anything – big or small – we can go directly to God for it.
