“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.” 1 John 3:16 to 19
The love of God abides in my sisters who did not shut up their heart from me, but instead have opened up their heart to me, a sister in need.
This is my first time experiencing this.
Care to Share?
When have you experienced a time when you were in need and a brother or sister in Christ opened up their heart to you and shared their resources with you?
Maybe you’ve experienced the opposite while being part of God’s family(the body of Christ)? Maybe no one opened their heart to you or cared for your need. If so, I encourage you to continue fellowshipping with them and forgive them if you’re holding something against them.
How we fellowship locally may not be as wonderful as it was in the book of Acts(which is what I look for), but that doesn’t mean we should quit on each other or give up on loving each other the way Christ prayed that we would.
…becoming a cultivator of true, non-superficial fellowship…
“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
