“The number one factor that determines whether or not you will like another person is whether or not they like us. If they like you, you will like them. If they don’t like you, you will not like them.”
-Quote from The Me I Want to Be by John Ortberg Chapter 18
And honestly if we think or feel that someone doesn’t like us, then our initial response goes something like this, “Well, I don’t like them either!”
God is not like this.
“God loves people who love Him. He loves people who don’t love Him. He doesn’t do it because He has to. He doesn’t say to Himself, Well, I am God, so I guess I’m stuck with having to love people…God does it because love is the only way to life.” – also quoted from chapter 18
God’s Word says that He (God) is love.
The fullness of love is part of God’s character.
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.(John 3:16)
So the difference between God’s love and the world’s love (or human love without God) is that God’s love is not dependant on whether we love Him. He loves regardless.
