Worship Him freely in dance, song and with instruments.
Praise the Lord!
Sing to the LORD a new song, and His praise in the assembly of the saints.
Let Israel rejoice in their maker; let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise His name with the dance;Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.
Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud in their beds.
This sudden rekindling of interest in praising God passionately comes from my listening of The Greater Allen Cathedral’s Living Sacrifices Worship Conference. More specifically the Friday night service.
The scripture theme was Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
I choose to share Psalm 149 because it shows that dancing, singing, making joyful noise, and making music with instruments to praise God is acceptable to Him. I’ve met some people who were against a form of worship that they were not used to. It is very sad when differences like these can separate God’s people. We are to love one another, serve God then people together, and even encourage each other.
According to God’s WORD as David expressed in the Psalms (even throughout the Bible), we can freely rejoice in the Lord and sing joyous songs unto Him. Whether it be hymns or gospel, as long as Christ our Savior and God are the center and focus of our worship we are doing what is acceptable to Him.
