Everything We Need

1 Peter 1 verses 5 to 8 & 10 to 11. I’ve read the amplified version and have gotten even more than when I read the new King James version.

Verse 8 inspires me because it says that if I have the qualities mentioned in the previous verses they would keep me from being useless and unproductive in regard to the true knowledge and understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is such a good thing for me. Being unemployed and out of school, I don’t want to end up being unproductive and useless with this life God has given me.

Today’s devotional reading is something I appreciate for where I am in life now. It is something I should appreciate throughout the rest of my life. That is having the knowledge and understanding that God has given me everything I need. Not just to serve Him, but to live in such a way the He is providing everything I need through whatever means necessary.  He is my Father, a good good Father; as is said in the song sung by Chris Tomlin. It is great and such a comfort knowing that God is taking care of me, every single day and moment of my life – He is there. Hallelujah! Thank You Father, thank You Lord! Have Your way this day in my life, I surrender it to You.

Our Daily Bread Everything We Need 1 Peter 1:1-11

For this very reason, applying your diligence [to the divine promises, make every effort] in [exercising] your faith to, develop moral excellence, and in moral excellence, knowledge (insight, understanding), and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, steadfastness, and in your steadfastness, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly affection, and in your brotherly affection, [develop Christian] love [that is, learn to unselfishly seek the best for others and to do things for their benefit]. For as these qualities are yours and are increasing [in you as you grow toward spiritual maturity], they will keep you from being useless and unproductive in regard to the true knowledge and greater understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 PETER 1:5‭-‬8 AMP

Therefore, believers, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you [be sure that your behavior reflects and confirms your relationship with God]; for by doing these things [actively developing these virtues], you will never stumble [in your spiritual growth and will live a life that leads others away from sin]; for in this way entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly provided to you.
