Past Prayer 10

This entry is part of the “Past Prayer Series” .

I won’t be sharing the whole prayer, but here is an excerpt.

May 12, 2011

“…it was two opposing sides. A constant battle in my mind. I couldn’t grasp the truth because I didn’t know what was the truth. I wanted a lot to happen, but Gods answer was no. I needed to be obedient and stop accepting lies from the enemy. I repent for not trusting You and for not being faithful to You at that time in my life. I ask for Your forgiveness and I thank You for forgiving me. I pray that, You Father, may give me ears to hear Your voice, obedience to Your will and patience for Your answer. In Jesus’ name. Amen. “

I know that God has forgiven me. He can forgive you also 1 John 1:9 says,

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”

It is so easy to be guilt free. Just go to God with your all, humbly, and open.

O God,

You are a forgiving God,

You are a loving God,

You are a mighty God,

You God, You are amazing.

Nothing can separate me from Your love

Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.

God you are merciful, in You I put all my trust.

For You alone shall I live to please.

To You O God I give all my battles

Although my enemies try to destroy me, You continue to stand before me. You continue to stand behind me; You protect me from harm.

You God, You are my light and my salvation, You are my protector, You are my teacher, God You are my Father and I am Your child.

Your love is so great, no one can love any stronger.

You continue to teach me your commands, and Your love. This will be another great year for You are with me. You know the plans You have for me, plans of hope and a future, plans to prosper me and not to harm me.

The battles that come, only prove that You are a great God. You are awesome in all Your ways. You, God, are righteous, Holy, magnificent…The King of kings. I know this year is going to be great because I have You.

The peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus. Glory to Your name Lord. Thank You for Your peace and mercy.

I shall be determined not to move away or depart from Your truth, O God.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I hope you were able to relate to this past prayer 🙂 .

Have a blessed day!

January 6, 2011

Father God, I want to thank You again for waking me up this morning, giving me new mercies, and protecting my family & me through out the night. I repent for the sins I have committed against You in thought, word, and deed, I repent of my sins of omission and commission and of my sins seen and unseen. I ask for Your forgiveness and I thank You for Your forgiveness. If we confess our sins You are faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Father, I ask that You help me to allow You to do Your will in my life. I ask that You may lead me in such a way that removes my selfish ways.

According to Your will God, use me that more people may see and hear about  Your love, grace, and mercy.

I know You have not given me a spirit of fear and that You instilled something great in me, because You are in me and You are great. All of Your creation is great. Teach me and help me to be confident in You, the Holy Spirit & myself > according to what You have given me.

Help me to have a loving and kind heart, but still be able to stand firm on your word that I may not tilt or stumble from the words or actions of others.

Thank You for Your word God, thank You for spiritual wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

I ask that You may teach me, show me, help me to be patient and humble.

God I ask that You will do Your will in my life and protect my family and me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Hey! I recommend writing down your own prayers if you happen to notice that random thoughts start to pop in your mind when you are praying. Writing them down can sometimes allow you to focus on your prayer to God. Plus, it will help stop the random thoughts from popping into your conversation with God. This is why I’m able to share my prayers, because I wrote them down.

January 3,2011

Father God, I want to thank You for waking me up this morning, breathing air into my lungs and opening my eyes. God I want to thank You for new mercies every morning. I want to thank You for your protection over my family and me.

Father God, I’ve realized that it is not about me. I cannot want to bring someone to Your truth for my own benefit. It is a choice to live by Your commands and to follow Your ways. I cannot and will not try to influence someone to go to You for my own benefit. Please forgive me for my selfish ways and my selfish actions.

What You want from us(everyone) is a relationship, a real relationship. I pray that according to Your will, O God, *Kayden will come to You with an open and humble heart. According to Your will he will turn from his ways and turn to You.

Today I step away from wanting to bring him to You for my own sake. I step away from my own desires and wants. I step into Your will for my life. I step into doing Your work by sharing Your love and gospel with others. I give myself  away that You can use me. I pray that my own thoughts or actions may not get in the way of You using me. This I pray to You God.

Thank You for Your love, mercy, and faithfulness. Thank You for being an awesome God.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

One of the reasons I wrote this prayer was because I realized that I wanted a friend to be a Christian because I liked him. This is actually being selfish. I knew that we, as Christians, are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers(2 Corinthians 6:14) so I figured if he(the friend) would just want to please God with his life then it would be okay for me to think the way I thought; which was since he is a Christian there would not be anything wrong with me wanting to be in a relationship with him. I was totally wrong and selfish because I wanted him to go to  God to justify me liking him and wanting to be with him. The unselfish thought would have been and should have been: I want him to go to God to receive salvation, to experience the love of God, so that his soul will be saved, and he won’t be lead astray into a life of unnecessary pain and troubles.

I shared this prayer to show that there is nothing wrong with praying for others. As Christians, it is part of our duty when we reach a certain level of maturity in our growth with God, to pray for others. We just have to be mindful of our own intentions and desires when praying for others. James 4:1-3 says,

“What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”

Once again, when praying for others be mindful of your desires and your motives, if they are not with love or in the will of God it most likely will not happen. This is probably why some people in the body of Christ have unanswered prayers. Let’s pray

Father God, we want to thank you for this day that we are able to acknowledge You and give You thanks. We thank You for waking us up this morning and giving us another chance to please You and do Your will. We thank You for your word of truth. Father, we repent of the sins we have committed against You in thought, word and deed; we repent of the sins we have committed against you of omission and commission, and of our sins seen and unseen. We ask for your forgiveness of these sins and we ask that you will give us the strength to turn away from the sins that so easily besets us and displeases You. We thank You for Your forgiveness and we thank You for giving us strength to turn away from our sins and turn to You. Father we ask that you will search our hearts, try us and know our thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in us, and lead us in the way everlasting in Jesus’ name. In Jesus’ name we ask that You help us not to lean on our own understanding but to acknowledge You in ALL our ways. In the name of Jesus, I bind the distractions and tricks of the enemy that keep Your people away from Your word. In the name of Jesus’ I loose Your Holy Spirit, O God, to lead us and guide us in all truth, to give us spiritual wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that we will be diligent to present ourselves approved by You, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Father God, we thank You for Your word of truth, we thank You for forgiving us of our sins, we thank You for Your will for our lives, we thank You for loving us unconditionally, we praise and glorify You for You are God Almighty; You alone are God; You were, are, and forever will be. God You are mighty, You are powerful, You are omnipresent – everywhere at once; omnipotent – all-powerful; omniscient – all-knowing. You know the beginning and the end. Hallelujah to the true and living God. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Amen.

Prayer/poem of thanks

November 25, 2010

Thank You, God for forgiving me, and thank You for Your patience with me.

Because I was born again in You I am able to put away my old actions, thoughts,  and behaviors. I am able to forgive as You have forgiven me, and I am able to love You as You love me – although not (yet) to the fullest.

Thank You, God for your love that penetrates and heals all wounded, bruised, and broken hearts. Your love God is the strongest there is. It heals past hurts, and present hurts; it softens past and present pains.

You turned my wailing into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to You and not be silent. O Lord, my God I will give you thanks forever(Psalm 30:11-12).

November 1, 2010 (morning)

Father God,

I want to thank You for waking me up this morning and protecting me and my family throughout the night. Today I ask that You may continue to do your will in my life. Help me to be less selfish. Help me to be open to your will whatever it may be. I ask that You may guide me with spiritual wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. I ask that You will continue to teach me how to be patient.

Thank You for all the blessings You have given to me and thank You for your mercies.

I ask that You may show me the college where You want me to continue my education. Help me to not get lost in what I want, so that I may stay focused on Your will. I ask that You may protect me and my family throughout the day. Thank You for being my solid rock. In Jesus name, Amen.

I think this is one of the shortest prayers in this series…

By this you can see that not all prayers have to be long and extensive.

If you have any comments or would like to add to the topic about prayer or short prayers, please feel free to do so. 🙂
