Sometimes we say things that we may either really mean or feel. Some of us even say things only because someone has hurt us and we want to hurt them back. The things we say flows from our hearts and thoughts. Some of us may not realize this but what you say about yourself and others plants a seed, it puts actions and thoughts in motion.
For example, if an adult yelled at a little girl or boy and said, ” You are ugly and stupid!” these words plant seeds of insecurity, anger and possibly many other emotions in that child. There may also be a seed of insecurity, and anger in the adult that said this; the difference with the adult and the child is that a new or fresh seed is planted into the child and the adult may have grown up with this seed. Meaning the seed has grown in to a bush or a tree already(that seed is fully developed). In the natural we see that for a seed to grow it needs water and for the seed to wither and die it needs nothing. This is the same thing with the words we use and the actions we carry out in our lives. Those seeds of anger and insecurity grow when you water it or feed it with the same actions (belittling others and breaking them down spiritually, even physically). These seeds wither away and die when you plant love, patience, (the opposite of what was used to plant it seeds of anger/insecurity).
Words have power, but the Word of God has the power greater than any other “word”. When you speak the word of God in your life, it speaks to both the spiritual realm and the natural realm (This is not a joke.). The Word of God is powerful. If you do not know what the Word of God is, it is the Holy Bible.
Another example I want to give regarding planting seeds is rejecting or not accepting seeds(the words spoken to you). Stemming from the example above: A family member says, ” You are stupid and ugly! and you’re not going to make it anywhere in life!” Once again these words plant seeds. Now, as a child of God, He has given us the power and authority to do specific things, and one of them is casting down imaginations and strongholds (even poison spewed from the mouths of others – which is basically what this family member is doing, spewing poison). This power is given to us is through Jesus Christ. We do not have the power to do what Jesus did; but there is power in His name. Have you ever wondered why most Christians say “in Jesus’ name…” It is because the name of Jesus has power, Jesus himself has power.
Back to the example, a family member says this to you. As a child of God, what we need to say to comments like these is ” I don’t receive it in the name of Jesus!” Lets even add the Word of God which gives us confidence. Lets add “Jeremiah 29:11 says, God knows the thoughts that he thinks towards me, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give me a hope and a future.” Let’s add another, “IT IS WRITTEN, No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9, Isaiah 64:4)”
Remember, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.(2 Corinthians 10:4-5)
This is Part 1 of Confess It tomorrow I will be sharing my confession list with you. It is time to stop saying and confessing negative things in our lives.
If you plan on reading my confession list or making your own, think about what direction your thoughts are going in, is that what you want for your life, it may be how you feel right now, but are these thoughts worth bringing into the next day God gives us. God gives us new mercies, peace, and more love every morning. Lets drop the baggage that takes away our God-given peace and receive his love today … everyday.
