Fear

Are you familiar with fear?

Have you heard fear is a liar?

It is seen in the Bible that the Pharisees were on fear. Their fear made them believe that something was much larger than it actually was at the time. John chapter 12 verses 12 through 19; but specifically verse 19. It says in the NKJV, “The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, ‘You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!'”

This is not the first time where fear was apparent in the words of the Pharisees.

It was through a discipleship class I attended that this realization came. Reading the Bible in a group setting, in order to learn about Chirst and become His disciple has its benefits. I am thankful to the Holy Trinity for revealing this thing.

In class it was also said that the Pharisees were against Christ not just because they believed He broke the law left and right, but because they wanted to maintain their place and power(influence) in the world. Take a quick look at John 12:48, it is their response to Jesus raising Lazarus up from the dead.

If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Roman’s will come and take away both our place and nation. John 12:48 NKJV

You see. The Pharisees were thinking about where they stood in the world. They also feared the Roman’s taking away their place and nation.

It was not yet the time for their place or nation to be moved. But see where their mind was. It was not on God having His way and doing His will. We do see later on that the high priest was used to prophesy that Jesus would die for the nation. The Bible said it was because Caiaphas was high priest that year.

If you remember a post I shared about a week ago I spoke of the thoughts I had after breaking up with my ex. I cried because of the breakup, the cause of it and becuase of the thoughts that came. Those thoughts were lies as far as I know. They were not based on truth. There was no way to prove them at the time. I say this to say we are in control of our mind and yes we can choose what we think before negative thinking becomes a habit.

Speak Over Yourself part Eleven

I am Powerful

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].

Book Review: Anywhere Faith by Heather C. King

This is my first time being part of a book club. Anywhere Faith is the book we are reading. So far being in the book club is going great! Yet, being as busy as I am, I am finding that I can’t read everyone’s responses to the questions being asked, but I know it is important to contribute by reading the book and then answering the questions for the chapter we are up to.

The book itself has been wonderful. I do not regret purchasing it. I have even wanted a loved one to read it as well, but I don’t think that they have the book. Still, I realize I am able to pray for that person. Nothing beats prayer!

Anywhere faith is about overcoming fear, insecurity, and excuses and saying yes to God. This is the tag line or sub-title under the title of the book. Do you think you should get this book and read just be reading this sub-title? If yes, I encourage you to get the book! I finished chapter six on Thursday. This up coming week the Our Daily Bread Book Club will be reading chapters seven and eight and then discussing questions asked at the end of the chapter. The book club is on Facebook; try typing Our Daily Bread Book Club. The book can be purchased on Amazon or on Our Daily Bread store: paperback only
