Past Prayer 3

This entry is part of the “Past Prayer Series” .

September 4, 2010 – morning prayer

Lord, thank You for waking me up this morning and protecting my family and I from harm. I ask that You may protect my family, friends, and myself today. I ask that You give me spiritual wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, that i may be able to differentiate from what is good & what is evil,  that I may know how to prevent myself from being involved in things I should not be involved in. That I may be able to truly appreciate all that You have blessed me with; & that I may be content with what I cannot change. I also ask that You may continue to guide me and keep me on the right path; that I may continue to grow in faith, meekness, patience and temperance.

Thank You for Your Word and Your constant, love, protection, guidance, patience, and gentleness. I ask that You may continue to make me strong in Your Word & confident in You & secure in having You in me. *Jesus, thank You for all the blessings and mercies You have given to me, Lord thank You for Your forgiveness. One more thing I ask is that You may give me clarity, understanding, truth, & light on what I might not see so blatantly. I don’t want to cover my eyes or my heart to what is true and right. I don’t want to feel confused…Patiently I will wait and seek You for what I have asked. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Amen.

* Some time earlier this year, I learned that when praying to God we ask in Jesus name; but we don’t pray to Jesus, we pray through Jesus…if we ask in Jesus’ name why are we also praying or talking to Jesus. Yes, there are three that bear witness in heaven, and together they are One (1 John 5:7). Jesus came that we may be reconciled to God , our Father, in this we are able to repent and be forgiven without sacrificing or shedding the blood of an animal. The blood that is needed for repentance and remission of sins has already been shed, Jesus did this for us. He (Jesus) was able to do this because He came from the Father, He was without spot or wrinkle…God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, that we may become the righteousness of God in Him ( 2 Corinthians 5:21) Jesus is the bridge, he filled the gap between us and the Father. There is only one way to God, and that is through Jesus. This is why we ask in Jesus’ name, because no one can get to the Father except through Him( John 14:6).

“And in that day you shall ask me nothing. Verily, Verily I say unto you, whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Hitherto have you asked nothing in my name: Ask, and you shall receive , that your joy may be full.” John 16:23-24

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that this message will reach those who need it and are looking for it.  You see all hearts and all intents, reveal to those Your Word in their due time, that they may receive it and choose to walk in You through Your word. Amen.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 “But it is written, Eye hath no seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him (also Isaiah 64:4). But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”

Confess It – Part 1

Sometimes we say things that we may either really mean or feel. Some of us even say things only because someone has hurt us and we want to hurt them back. The things we say flows from our hearts and thoughts. Some of us may not realize this but what you say about yourself and others plants a seed, it puts actions and thoughts in motion.

For example, if an adult yelled at a little girl or boy and said, ” You are ugly and stupid!” these words plant  seeds of insecurity, anger and possibly many other emotions in that child. There may also be a seed of insecurity, and anger in the adult that said this; the difference with the adult and the child is that a new or fresh seed is planted into the child and the adult may have grown up with this seed. Meaning the seed has grown in to a bush or a tree already(that seed is fully developed). In the natural we see that for a seed to grow it needs water and for the seed to wither and die it needs nothing. This is the same thing with the words we use and the actions we carry out in our lives. Those seeds of anger and insecurity grow when you water it or feed it with the same actions (belittling others and breaking them down spiritually, even physically). These seeds wither away and die when you plant love, patience, (the opposite of what was used to plant it seeds of anger/insecurity).

Words have power, but the Word of God has the power  greater than any other “word”. When you speak the word of God in your life, it speaks to both the spiritual realm and the natural realm (This is not a joke.). The Word of God is powerful. If you do not know what the Word of God is, it is the Holy Bible.

Another example I want to give regarding planting seeds is rejecting or not accepting seeds(the words spoken to you). Stemming from the example above: A family member says,         ” You are stupid and ugly! and you’re not going to make it anywhere in life!” Once again these words plant seeds. Now, as a child of God, He has given us the power and authority to do specific things, and one of them is casting down imaginations and strongholds (even poison spewed from the mouths of others – which is basically what this family member is doing, spewing poison). This power is given to us is through Jesus Christ. We do not have the power to do what Jesus did; but there is power in His name. Have you ever wondered why most Christians say “in Jesus’ name…” It is because the name of Jesus has power, Jesus himself has power.

Back to the example, a family member says this to you. As a child of God, what we need to say to comments like these is ” I don’t receive it in the name of Jesus!” Lets even add the Word of God which gives us confidence. Lets add “Jeremiah 29:11 says, God knows the thoughts that he thinks towards me, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give me a hope and a future.”   Let’s add another, “IT IS WRITTEN, No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9, Isaiah 64:4)”

Remember, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.(2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

This is Part 1 of Confess It tomorrow I will be sharing my confession list with you. It is time to stop saying and confessing negative things in our lives.

If you plan on reading my confession list or making your own, think about what direction your thoughts are going in, is that what you want for your life, it may be how you feel right now, but are these thoughts worth bringing into the next day God gives us. God gives us new mercies, peace, and more love every morning. Lets drop the baggage that takes away our God-given peace and receive his love today … everyday.
