Like the Father

Today’s devotional is about being like our heavenly Father.

This is something that Jesus said He did, to be like His Father and that He can only do what He saw His Father do. As todays devotional says, it must have pleased God to see His Son doing so many miracles and living His like just like Him(God).

Our Daily Bread Just Like Dad

If you are a Christian, let’s be like our heavenly Father today. Showing love, grace, mercy and compassion.

Music: Hallelujah! You have won the victory / The Anthem – Planetshakers

Jesus won it all for us. Yes, for me and for you. Don’t let doubt or unworthiness or fear or Satan steal that truth or try to tell you otherwise!
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life!

Jesus Can Sympathize With Our Weaknesses

Therefore, since we have a great High Priest who has gone into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 14:14-16

Isn’t it great to know that as children of God, we can turn to Him right in our time of need!
Although I need to do so more often, each time I go to Him He pours His peace which surpasses all understanding into my heart and what troubled me before I know is taken care of because I went to Him.

Indeed God, my Father, is faithful and not just to me…for He shows no partiality; His faithfulness is just part of who He is-it is part of His character which means He will be faithful to you as well, you just need to draw closer to  Him.

Wanna’ get to know Him for yourself? Then draw closer to Him through prayer, reading His word and joining a Bible based church. BUT first things first visit the salvation page above, make the confession and say the prayer with your heart.

Have Your way with this Your word Father, in Jesus name, Amen.

Notes on John 5:35-47

John 5:35-47 “He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.  But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.  And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe.  You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.  But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
“I do not receive honor from men. But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.  I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.  How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God? Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you—Moses, in whom you trust.  For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”

“But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.”- John 5:36

  • We know and trust that God sent Jesus because of the works Jesus did and finished while on earth.

“But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe.” – John 5:38

  • To have God’s Word abiding in you, you have to believe in the One He sent – He (God) sent Jesus.

“You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.” – John 5:39

  • The scriptures prove that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of the living God. The scriptures (Holy Bible) tell of Jesus (who Himself is the Word). Through Jesus we are able to have eternal life with the Father. It is He (Jesus) that redeemed  us that we may enter the Kingdom of God through salvation by Jesus.

“But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.” – John 5:40

  • To have eternal life and life within we need to go to Jesus. It is at His feet, with humility that He is able to save and redeem us. If we don’t go to Him how can we expect to be redeemed or have eternal life?

“If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true.” – John 5:31 and 36

  • Jesus said, ” If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true.” Now we know Jesus is true and real because it is His works that bear witness of Him. His works are also His fruits. We know someone by the fruits they produce, not only by the words that come out of their mouth.

“I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.” – John 5:43

Another Truth: Verse 43(B Clause): “If another comes in his own name, him you will receive.” This is true with some people. They will believe the word or words of another without first examining those words and observing that persons fruits(in example: when one makes or receives a recommendation).  This is why Jesus says in verse 44, “How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?” If we are something (whatever we are gifted in, specialized in or called to) we shouldn’t need to stand tall on a mountain to declare our gifts or who we are to everyone; we don’t need to brag about what we do either because our works will show that which we are. The works that we do and the way we choose to operate will show who and whose we are, they will show how skilled we may be at something or if we need some improvement. Actions speak louder than words – this always proves right (1 John 5:3-4, 1 John 3:24) (NOTE: Although actions speak louder than words sometimes actions may be misunderstood or misinterpreted). We cannot be so quick to easily believe others especially when they try to prove themselves with their mouths. Their actions can speak a lot louder and longer than their own words can.

“For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”- John 5:46 and 47

  •  Moses was alive before Jesus was born and lived in the flesh. “If you believed Moses, you would believe Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”
