Used To. Will It Be Back?

I used to dream of being a woman that cooked great meals
A woman that worked with her hands
A woman with great friends, a husband, and children
A house pecked with children
A home of hospitality

I liked the homes and gardens spread throughout the Better Homes & Gardens magazine
Every picture of a lighted room
The living room, kitchen, bathroom
I think only recently the bedroom
All rooms with breathing space
Tidy and organized
Tidy and organizations, because that’s how I liked things

But I realized, a home with children
Isn’t always so and span
My grandmother’s home was ALWAYS spotless
She worked in a hospital
All get children were grown
And she had gran kids
Even so get home was still spotless
It was also cold,
Cold and clean

So I dreamed of a beautiful house
One to share
A family that expressed God’s love – everywhere & to everyone
A family that was hospitable
A God glorifying marriage

I was younger than 23
I have seen and believe
God can do it
He can do anything
He answers prayers
There’s no reason for me to think or believe that He does not answer
Our dies not fulfill the dies of our hearts

But Lord,
what happened to, “ask what you will that your joy may be full,” ?

So at the beginning of this post I shared dreams and things that I was happy about or had joy about, at 23, for some reason it seems to have changed.

Part of me wants to go back.
But so much has changed
Life moves on
Time continues
Seasons change
Lord, help me to adjust and move forward, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Seasons don’t last forever. That sparks a flicker or more of hope for the person that is going through a difficult season in life. However, if life looks perfect right now, the thought of the current season not lasting forever puts a temporary down pour on things.

Acts 20:35. It seems like I always knew about the latter part of this verse(it is better to give than to receive), but I didn’t know where it was in the Bible. Now that I’ve found it the words have been rooted in me and I’m inspired to give (that is without looking for anything in return 😉 )

“I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” Acts 20:35

A Reminder to Be Kind

Whenever I feel like being merciless and unkind to someone this verse always puts a stop to that action. God has been so merciful, kind, loving and forgiving to me how can I not live the way He wants me to according to His Word.  In some time or another I’m sure we all need Ephesians 4:32 to remind us to live in a godly manner, (being the light of the world and the salt of the earth) by forgiving and loving just as God has forgiven and loved us; His children(to become God’s child go here). We are not all perfect, but we can strive to please God with our lives.

PS. What is so interesting is that I was supposed to do a drawing for this verse but I never got to it…lets just say someone got to it before me…I’m glad they did. I hope this verse encourages you to be kind and to forgive others just as God forgave you. 🙂

Divine – Karen Kingsbury

First book review of 2011!

About a month ago I was looking for a book that was not focused on romance or anything of the sort. Divine is the book I found. I was actually surprised that Kingsbury wrote this book…I guess it’s because I’m used to reading about romance in her novels.

Anyway, Divine is a nice book to read. I recommend this book but I must say that the first half of this book may have you upset and probably even mad because of the decisions and actions of the characters. The main character, Mary, goes through physical, emotional, and sexual  abuse at an early age. What I like about Divine is that it shows how God can save anyone with any problem, if they are willing to receive it. I also like that throughout the whole book there is always a glimmer of hope and light that shines…because of her grandmother and all the other characters that believe in the true and living God. Although she does not always see the way of truth and hope in her life, Mary eventually recognizes it and accepts it, after all her attempts to find real love failed. As the story continues, you are able to see how God used what she went through to save others who also experience or have experienced what she went through.

Even the most hard to imagine situations in a person’s life, God can save. He can save us, no matter how far we think we’ve gone. All we have to do is call out to Him(God) with a contrite and humble heart and He will save us from a life of trouble, confusion, fear, pain, and much more. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

Whatever trouble you may be going through, stop taking matters into your own hands and put it in the hands of God, trust Him. To give it all to God, to know what true love is, go to the Receive Jesus As Your Savior Today page above.

Past Prayer 1

This entry is part of the “Past Prayer Series” , [1st post of series]

August 27, 2010

Lord…I know my thoughts have not been pure, and I am sure that You do not approve of them. I don’t approve of them. I have been getting upset angry and furious about what happened. I don’t even like the way I feel when I get angry. I am repenting now, so that You may see and hear my sorrow. So that You, Lord, can purify my heart and mind. I am repenting so that You won’t turn your ear from me but, hear my prayer and forgive me for my evil thoughts. Now that You have forgiven me, Lord I ask that You may teach me how to forgive others who have hurt me, intentionally or unintentionally. I ask that you may show and teach me to forgive others that I may not hold anything against them after i have forgiven them. Father, thank you for your unfailing love and your continuous mercy. Thank you for your loving-kindness and your gentle touch of comfort. Thank you for who You are Lord, all praise belongs to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Some parts of this prayer has been omitted. So, at the time I was feeling betrayed, hurt, angry and probably a whole lot of other emotions. When you pray to God remember He is your Father (if you have accepted His son, Jesus, as your Lord and Savior and you take seriously your relationship with God.).

Since he is your Father, tell Him how you feel. Ask Him for whatever you feel you need. If you need an understanding for a problem – ask Him. If you think you need more grace or patience with others, talk to God about it, ask God for it. Remember to repent of all known and unknown sin, so that God can hear you without any disruption (Don’t allow your sins to hinder your communication with God.) In prayer remember to have faith and give thanks for who God is, what He has done in your life, for prayers that he has answered. Also, when praying, try not to be like a voicemail machine. A voicemail has no emotion and it just repeats what was recorded. Who likes listening to machines or those automated message services?  Think about it. Would you really like to talk to a close family member or friend with a machine. ” If you feel excited, press 1. If you feel happy, press 2. If you feel bored, press 3.” I don’t know about you, but for me that would be annoying. Therefore let’s talk to God with emotion, like we want to talk to Him.

It takes practice and confidence, to build your prayer life with God. The important thing to do when praying is to know the Word of God – read the Bible, and even a devotional book that uses scripture.

I pray that God will lead you in the right direction. and whatever your issue or problem might be I pray that you take it confidently to God; and patiently wait to hear Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
