If God wanted us to look back in the past, He wouldn’t move us forward.
It is time to start thinking forwards not backwards.
This does not mean to constantly try to figure out or think about what is going to happen in the future, it means to let loose of your past, it is gone already. You can’t have another hour of yesterday, instead enjoy the time you have been given today! and be joyful of the time you may have tomorrow(whether the day goes as planned or not). If your life is not the way you like it, you can change it. If your past is better than your present, don’t dwell on the joy you had in the past, work towards or look forward to the greater joy you will have in your future.
I used to think about the amount of time I spent with family and friends when I was younger and how much I enjoyed spending time with these people. Things change, people grow apart, interests change, and lifestyles change. When I thought about this I used to get sentimental about it all, but now I think about the people God has brought in my life recently and I don’t feel so emotional anymore. I believe things happen for a reason, it’s not important to know the reason, but it is important to remember there is a God. If you are a Christian with a deep relationship with God, I mean a real deep relationship with God, then know that He knows the steps of the righteous, the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23,Proverbs 16:9) He knows the thoughts He thinks towards you, God knows the plans he has for you(Jeremiah 29:11). Sure, I miss some of the people who used to be in my life, but my heart is at peace because God has given me peace, I’ll trust Him because He knows the plans he has for me, He knows the hearts and minds of all people. God is omniscient, He is all-knowing.
Goodness and mercies shall follow me all the days of my life (Psalm 23:6).
Weeping may endure for the night but joy cometh in the morning(Psalm 30:5 b Clause).
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own(Matthew 6:34).
This topic is especially for me…I haven’t been so good at keeping the past where it belongs – behind me. But I’m learning to give it to God – I pray that you will also learn to give you troubled or broken past to God. And if you haven’t had a troubled or broken past, but a wonderful past, I pray that you are able to accept your present life if it is not as wonderful as your past. Father I ask that you guide those who are lost, teach those that do not know, protect those who are searching for You and have not yet found you, let not their hearts and minds be deceived by the enemy. I love you Lord, You are able to do great things. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
