Past Prayer 5

This entry is part of the “Past Prayer Series” .

November 1, 2010 (morning)

Father God,

I want to thank You for waking me up this morning and protecting me and my family throughout the night. Today I ask that You may continue to do your will in my life. Help me to be less selfish. Help me to be open to your will whatever it may be. I ask that You may guide me with spiritual wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. I ask that You will continue to teach me how to be patient.

Thank You for all the blessings You have given to me and thank You for your mercies.

I ask that You may show me the college where You want me to continue my education. Help me to not get lost in what I want, so that I may stay focused on Your will. I ask that You may protect me and my family throughout the day. Thank You for being my solid rock. In Jesus name, Amen.

I think this is one of the shortest prayers in this series…

By this you can see that not all prayers have to be long and extensive.

If you have any comments or would like to add to the topic about prayer or short prayers, please feel free to do so. 🙂

Past Prayer 4

This entry is part of the “Past Prayer Series” .

October 23, 2010

Lord, thank You for waking me up this morning; that I may have the opportunity to make needed corrections in my attitudes and my habits. I repent of the sins I have committed against You in thought, word, and deed. I ask for Your forgiveness of these sins. I thank You for forgiving me and washing me clean.  I ask that You may help me to not stay on the computer for excessive amounts of time. I ask that You may help me to stay away from TV shows that subtly do more harm than good to my spirit.

I ask that You may continue to guide me on the path of Your will and that I may not change the direction in which you have put me in.

Help me to not focus on or think about silly matters. Help me to not think negatively of others or myself. Lord, help me to not focus on the opinions or thoughts of others but to respect them only to an extent.

Father, help me to not feel insecure about who I am and who You created me to be. Teach me that I may learn not to compare myself to others and teach me how to be strong in who I am, Who is in me, and who I was created to be.

God, I ask that You may continue to teach me right from wrong, according to Your commandments and Your Word. Help me, show me where I am able to study Your word and fellowship with others. Lord, help me to not be lazy in what I do and what I am supposed to do.

I ask that You may get rid of, eradicate, any spirit that You do not approve of in me. Help me to see, that I may not enter or allow any evil spirit to enter my mind. God, I ask that You may help me stay focused on You and only You. For when I focus on You and Your ways and Your teachings everything else will fall  in to place according to Your will.

I ask that You Lord, will give me spiritual understanding that I may comprehend what happens around me; that I may not judge Your people. Father, help me to be humble in all ways that I may not think of myself more highly than others. Help me to not be stubborn, continue to show me how to be patient. Help me to know Your voice that I may do what You tell me. Help me to not feel as though I know everything. Help me to not fall deeper into selfish ways that are taught in this world, help me to not become self-focused. Help me to not worry about material things. Teach me how to meditate on Your Word.

When others come to rattle my faith, I may continue to stand firm on Your truthful Word, Lord. Those who come against me with their words or actions may not succeed in their angry or evil intents because I have You God, my protector and my guard.

Thank You, for all the blessings and mercies and love that You have given me. Thank you for Your forgiveness. I thank You for revealing the truth behind TV shows that I know to stay away from them because they are far away from the life You intend for me to live. Thank You for revealing to me that most of the shows that I used watch never brought me closer to You but separated me from You.

I thank You for helping me to be more selfless, I thank You for Your guidance in my life. I thank You for protecting me from harm and danger. I thank You for giving me spiritual understanding that I may understand what goes on around me. I thank You for leading me in prayer, I thank You for listening to me when I pray. I thank You God for knowing my thoughts even before I came to You.

I thank You for guiding me on the path of Your will for Your glory. I thank You for helping me and showing me to be confident in who You created me to be. I was made in the image and likeness of You, the work of Your hands are great and pondered by many. I praise You, O God, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I thank You for revealing to me the uniqueness You placed in each and every one of Your children, in the body of Christ; we are all important and needed to do Your work.(Psalm 139:13-18; 1 Corinthians 12:24-26)

Thank You, Father, for showing me and giving me opportunities to remain in Your Word, to dwell in Your Word. Thank You for showing me and teaching me how to meditate on Your Word.

Father God, You are great and worthy to be praised.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

*Slightly revised.

I have to be honest, while I was typing this prayer out from my journal I became annoyed. In almost every paragraph I asked God for different things without praising Him. Not that what I asked for is not important; it’s just…my state of mind and my understanding about prayer has changed since October 2010. I can’t leave out the bit of guilt I felt when I realized the unrevised prayer could be an example of a wish list prayer; and I’m not a fan of wish list praying. BUT I’m glad I’m able to be thankful for everything I asked for because God did answer my prayers even though I was ignorant on the importance of giving thanks to God. There is nothing wrong with asking God for what you desire to have, there is nothing wrong with opening your heart to Him because He gives us more love than anyone else can ever give. Even though I felt guilty about this prayer, my joy abounds greater than the guilt I felt because God has answered my prayers, I’ve already seen the manifestation of what I’ve asked for and I still see it today. 😀

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” – 1 John 5:14-15

Remember to give thanks for the blessing’s God has given you, and for the things you’ve asked Him for. In doing so, you are working your faith muscle in believing that what you’ve asked God for, He will give to you as long as you are in right standing with him and what you’ve asked for is in his will.

John 15:7 & Some Notes

(Mistake – missing capitalizations)

A Few Notes:

1 John 3:24 is similar to John 15:7

  • 1 John 3:24 says, “Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us”.
  • Keep His commandments – obey Him (God, His Word and His voice).

  • Abide in Him. Abide – to remain; stay. to dwell; reside. to comply with; submit to. to remain faithful to. You abide in God through His word, staying in righteousness (repenting/confessing of sins), praising and worshipping Him in spirit and in truth. Have a relationship with God…& He will abide in you. Now that’s being in tune with God!

  • Because we abide in Him and keep His commandments we know and are sure that He(God) abides in us through  His Holy Spirit which He has given to us.

  • Through the Holy Spirit; read John 14:16-18, John 16:13.

  • John 14:16-18 “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”

  • John 16:13 “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”

Make An Impact For Christ

Impact For Christ. I’ve also noticed that the teens who make the biggest impact for Christ match the characteristics Paul told Timothy about in 1 Timothy 4:12. Trying to convince Timothy that his relative youth did not have to be … Continue reading

September 4, 2010 – morning prayer

Lord, thank You for waking me up this morning and protecting my family and I from harm. I ask that You may protect my family, friends, and myself today. I ask that You give me spiritual wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, that i may be able to differentiate from what is good & what is evil,  that I may know how to prevent myself from being involved in things I should not be involved in. That I may be able to truly appreciate all that You have blessed me with; & that I may be content with what I cannot change. I also ask that You may continue to guide me and keep me on the right path; that I may continue to grow in faith, meekness, patience and temperance.

Thank You for Your Word and Your constant, love, protection, guidance, patience, and gentleness. I ask that You may continue to make me strong in Your Word & confident in You & secure in having You in me. *Jesus, thank You for all the blessings and mercies You have given to me, Lord thank You for Your forgiveness. One more thing I ask is that You may give me clarity, understanding, truth, & light on what I might not see so blatantly. I don’t want to cover my eyes or my heart to what is true and right. I don’t want to feel confused…Patiently I will wait and seek You for what I have asked. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Amen.

* Some time earlier this year, I learned that when praying to God we ask in Jesus name; but we don’t pray to Jesus, we pray through Jesus…if we ask in Jesus’ name why are we also praying or talking to Jesus. Yes, there are three that bear witness in heaven, and together they are One (1 John 5:7). Jesus came that we may be reconciled to God , our Father, in this we are able to repent and be forgiven without sacrificing or shedding the blood of an animal. The blood that is needed for repentance and remission of sins has already been shed, Jesus did this for us. He (Jesus) was able to do this because He came from the Father, He was without spot or wrinkle…God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, that we may become the righteousness of God in Him ( 2 Corinthians 5:21) Jesus is the bridge, he filled the gap between us and the Father. There is only one way to God, and that is through Jesus. This is why we ask in Jesus’ name, because no one can get to the Father except through Him( John 14:6).

“And in that day you shall ask me nothing. Verily, Verily I say unto you, whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Hitherto have you asked nothing in my name: Ask, and you shall receive , that your joy may be full.” John 16:23-24

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that this message will reach those who need it and are looking for it.  You see all hearts and all intents, reveal to those Your Word in their due time, that they may receive it and choose to walk in You through Your word. Amen.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 “But it is written, Eye hath no seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him (also Isaiah 64:4). But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”
