Morning Scripture

He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]–yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good as long as they live; and also that every man should eat and drink and see and enjoy the good of all his labor–it is the gift of God. I know that whatever God does, it endures forever; nothing can be added to it nor can anything be taken from it, for God does it so that men will fear and worship Him [with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is God].

Love Awakened?

I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, By the gazelles or by the does of the field, Do not stir up nor awaken love Until it pleases.
Song of Solomon 2:7 NKJV
and also Song of Solomon 2:4

I take scripture literal most times. So I now wonder, why are we told not to awaken love until it so desires?

The Lord is my strength and my [impenetrable] shield; My heart trusts [with unwavering confidence] in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I shall thank Him and praise Him.

Count The Cost

For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it — lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’?
Luke 14:28‭-‬30 NKJV

Some weeks ago I decided to start training online to be a health coach. As with going to college or trade school it costs. The verse I shared above tells me I really should have counted what it would cost me to start this training. What it would cost me financially and time wise.

I wish I had more time and less concern or worry about paying for this training. In the end I pray on Jesus’ name that what I learn will benefit me in many ways as well as those I interact with. Lord, I pray to make better choices about what I eat and drink and how I spend the money You have allowed me to make through work. Thank You for being with me always Lord and Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Wisdom

“For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord;” – Proverbs 8:35 NKJV

Here in proverbs, wisdom is talking. So if we find wisdom we also find life and receive favor from the Lord. Favor from the Lord is the best favor there is because I believe you can have favor with the Lord, which can result in favor with God as well. Think about the story of Joseph in the bible! After being taken to Egypt as a slave, He had God’s favor and wisdom! Plus he had the favor of those he interacted with everywhere he went. If you don’t remember the story, please go ahead and read it. Read it also in a version that you know you will be able to understand, or switch to a different version like the amplified if you’d like some points explained more. Don’t stick to the version you are used to if you have been a Christian for many years.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” – James 1:5 NKJV

I love that if we are lacking wisdom, all we have to do is be humble, go to God and ask for His wisdom. His word gives us assurance that He will give us wisdom, because as the verse above says, He gives liberally and without reproach (freely, no restraint).

Let’s look at the Amplified Bible,

If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him. But he must ask [for wisdom] in faith, without doubting [God’s willingness to help], for the one who doubts is like a billowing surge of the sea that is blown about and tossed by the wind. For such a person ought not to think or expect that he will receive anything [at all] from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable and restless in all his ways [in everything he thinks, feels, or decides]. James 1:5-7

The amplified version gives more explanation for some verses, I tried to expound a bit more on James 1:5 I’m not sure if it helped, but I hope the amplified version helps you all out.
